RICHMOND, Va. – VCU freshman guard Nyk Lewis (Washington, D.C.) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time, the league announced Monday.
 
Lewis led the Rams to a pair of victories last week, averaging 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He also connected on 5-of-12 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.
 
The rookie guard recorded his first career double-double when he racked up 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in a win on Dec. 15 against Niagara. He followed that performance with a 14-point, six-assist, three-steal effort when the Black and Gold defeated American on Dec. 18.
 
For the season, Lewis is averaging 10.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
 
Lewis and the Rams will return to action on Monday, Dec. 22 when they host Rider at the Stuart C. Siegel Center at 7 p.m.
