HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU took an 18-13 lead at the end of the first quarter after an 8-0 run that was capped off by a pair of Makennah White free throws
- The Rams led the Eagles 18-17 until a White 3-pointer capped 12-2 run that gave the Rams its biggest lead of the game at 30-19. American chipped away and VCU led 32-28 at the half
- Trading leads once again, American went 4-for-4 at the free throw line to take a 48-45 lead with less than a minute remaining on the clock in the third quarter
- VCU trailed 60-56 with 5:46 remaining in the game but a Knezevic layup started a 13-3 run to end the game and take the lead for good
