The short story: VCU trailed 26-22 with 7:57 left in the second quarter before an 11-0 run gave Temple a 37-22 lead. The Rams were unable to recover.

• Katarina Kneževic had a career-high 21 points along with five rebounds
• Makennah White had 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting including 2-of-3 from 3-point range
• Daija Preston added 13 points along with a team-high six rebounds and six assists
• VCU shot 39.3 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from deep while Temple shot a blistering 52.7 percent from the field and 48.0 percent from 3-point range
• Temple was led by Kaylah Turner who had a game-high 29 points along with six assists

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Temple opened the game on an 16-3 run with 5:09 left in the first quarter after a layup from Curry
• The Rams answered with an 11-1 run of their own capped off by a White 3-pointer to end the quarter trailing just 17-14
• Temple then used a 11-0 run to build a 37-22 lead over VCU with 4:03 left before halftime capped by a Turner layup. The Owls held a 42-26 lead over the Rams at the half
• Temple pulled away from the Rams in the second half for the win
