The short story: VCU trailed Colorado 17-14 after the first quarter but a 15-4 run allowed Colorado to build its lead. The Rams trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half and attempted a frantic fourth quarter comeback
OPENING TIP:
- Katarina Kneževic scored a career-high 20 points, going 7-of-10 from the floor and grabbing four rebounds
- Ty Williams had 10 points and five assists
- VCU shot 42.1 percent from the floor while Colorado was 41.3 percent.
- Colorado outrebounded VCU 45-33 and had 12 more shot attempts than the Rams. Colorado also went 15-of-24 from the free throw line while VCU was 7-of-13

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Buffalos led VCU 8-3 early in the first quarter and held a 17-11 lead with 1:28 left. Daija Preston hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit top 17-14 at the end of the first quarter
- Colorado had a 15-4 run to start the second quarter and led 32-18 with 2:03 left. The Buffalos would lead 34-24 at the break
- Colorado started the second half on an 8-0 run to lead 42-24 with 8:07 left in the third quarter and VCU trailed Colorado led 53-35 heading into the fourth quarter
- VCU opened the fourth quarter on a 14-5 run after a Kneževic floater with 3:40 left to make it 58-49
- The Rams got as close as a nine-point deficit twice in the final minutes but were unable to complete the comeback
