The short story: VCU trailed Texas A&M 51-50 with 1:03 left in the third quarter. The Aggies went on a 20-3 run to build a 71-53 advantage that the Rams were unable to overcome.

  • VCU used a 6-2 run to get within 19-18 with 7:01 left before halftime after an Ann Zachariah jumper
  • Zachariah hit a 3-pointer to make it 27-26 with 1:39 left in the second quarter but an A&M 3-pointer gave the Aggies a 30-26 lead at the healf
  • The two teams battled through the third quarter as VCU trailed just 51-50 with 1:03 left in the third quarter
  • Texas A&M pulled away using a 20-3 run to make it 71-53 with 5:13 remaining in the game and held off the Rams
