- Texas A&M started the game on an 8-0 run before VCCU answered with a 6-0 run of its own to get within 8-6 with 4:56 left in the first quarter
- The Aggies led VCU 17-12 at the end of the first quarter
- VCU used a 6-2 run to get within 19-18 with 7:01 left before halftime after an Ann Zachariah jumper
- Zachariah hit a 3-pointer to make it 27-26 with 1:39 left in the second quarter but an A&M 3-pointer gave the Aggies a 30-26 lead at the healf
- The two teams battled through the third quarter as VCU trailed just 51-50 with 1:03 left in the third quarter
- Texas A&M pulled away using a 20-3 run to make it 71-53 with 5:13 remaining in the game and held off the Rams
