MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO AKRON ON THE ROAD

Box Score: Akron 4, No. 13 VCU 0
Location: Akron, Ohio / FirstEnergy Stadium
Records:  Akron (1-1-3), VCU (2-1-1)

THE SHORT STORY: VCU fell for the first time in 2024 as Akron pushed past the 13th nationally-ranked Rams, 4-0, to spoil their unbeaten record.

QUOTABLE
"Tonight was a very difficult lesson to learn for our team but a really critical one. As I've told this group from the start of preseason, we are the level. We are the level of the top teams. When those teams play each other, the game isn't about levels, it's about details. We have details in our team that aren't yet where they need to be for what I think we can achieve. Tonight, we paid for those details. This is why you play these games, to learn and to grow. Credit to Akron tonight, they punished us for where we are short. I know this group and their character and their hunger to achieve our goals. We will learn and we will grow and we will be more prepared for who we can be because of tonight." – VCU Head Coach Dave Giffard
