RAMS EXTEND UNBEATEN STREAK TO FIVE, DRAW WITH BONNIES 1-1

Box Score: VCU 1, St. Bonaventure 1
Location: Richmond, Va. / Sports Backers Stadium
Records: VCU (2-6-3, 1-0-3 A-10), St. Bonaventure (1-8-2, 0-2-1 A-10)

THE SHORT STORY: The Rams continued their unbeaten streak, pushing it to five games with an undefeated Atlantic 10 record after a Sunday afternoon draw with St. Bonaventure, 1-1.

PITCH SIDE
  • Y-Van Nguyen became the second Ram with a multi-goal season, tallying her second
  • VCU made a season-high 17 shots, led by Milica Bulatovic's four
  • Nguyen (2), Bulatovic, Kanna Matsuhisa and Carleigh Frilles combined for five shots on goal
  • Despite possession being split 51-49 in favor of VCU, just 11% of the Rams' control was spent in its defensive zone
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Mia Pongratz made her third appearance between the posts, recording her first save of the year
  • VCU extended its undefeated A-10 record through its fourth game (1-0-3)
  • The Rams' five-game unbeaten streak is the longest since Head Coach Lindsey Martin's 2022 squad made a 14-game undefeated run, opening A-10 play with eight unbeaten matches

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Striking early, Jenna Eller unloaded a cross up the middle and Nguyen beat out a Bonnies defender and Chiara Gottinger in goal to give the Rams a second-minute lead
  • Coming off a substitution, Bonnies' Torrie Grant-Clavijo sent a long ball-in and Evie Underhill got the edge in a footrace, firing a shot just out of the reach of a diving Karpovich to even the score in the 29th minute
  • Mia Pongratz replaced Allison Karpovich in goal with just over 16 minutes remaining in the match
  • The Bonnies defense locked it down at the goal in the final 15 minutes, blocking five consecutive VCU shots
  • Placing their final shot on goal in the match, Bulatovic induced a save in the 83rd minute
  • Pongratz protected the tie with a save of her own in the 88th minute as St. Bonaventure's Mahelie Barbeau launched the final attempt of the match
  • VCU and St. Bonaventure split the points, finishing in a 1-1 draw
