VCU’S THIRD SHUTOUT OF A-10 PLAY ENDS IN 0-0 TIE

Box Score: VCU 0, Loyola 0
Location: Richmond, Va. / Sports Backers Stadium
Records: VCU (2-6-4, 1-0-4 A-10), Loyola (6-2-5, 1-0-4 A-10)

THE SHORT STORY: Allison Karpovich continued her dominance between the posts for the Rams, tying her career-high nine saves to record her fourth shutout in six contests. VCU stretched its unbeaten streak to six and it extended its undefeated A-10 schedule through five matches with a 0-0 draw against Loyola Chicago.

PITCH SIDE
  • Three weeks removed from a career-best nine saves in a shutout against UNCW, Karpovich repeated the feat to tie her season high in individual clean sheets (4)
  • VCU drew 10 corner kicks and conceded just four
  • Jenna Eller led the Rams with three shots, one on goal
  • The Rams led with 53% of the possession to the Ramblers' 47%
  • Defender Carley Rynex made her first career start, recording 77 minutes in the contest
  • Both VCU and Loyola moved to 1-0-4 in Atlantic 10 play

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Karpovich set her pace early in the match, facing a trio of shots in the seventh and eighth minutes and saving all three
  • Y-Van Nguyen fired off one of the game's closest chances for the Rams, sending a rocket that missed by mere inches off of the right post and wide in the 19th minute
  • Forcing a turnover near the center circle, Milica Bulatovic made a run to the 18 yard box and fired a hard shot into the arms of a diving Allison Deardorff in goal for Loyola
  • Eller landed a shot on goal in the 76th minute, lacing it past a Ramblers defender from inside the penalty box, but Deardoss made her third save of the night
  • In the 90th minute, Karpovich made the final save of the game on an attempt from Loyola's Taylor Harrison to secure the 0-0 draw
