OFFENSE POWERS RAMS PAST GEORGE MASON 3-1

The short story: Four Rams delivered double-digit kills to power offense-minded VCU to a 3-1 win at George Mason Saturday.
 
OPENING VOLLEY
  • Junior outside hitter Julia Rienks led the Rams with 15 kills and 16 digs. She hit .289 in 38 swings. Rienks also served up two aces
  • Graduate middle blocker Jasmine Knight added 11 kills and six blocks for the Black and Gold, while junior outside hitter Kalina Pylinska supplied a season-high 12 kills, while hitting .310 in 29 attempts. She also chipped in eight digs and a pair of blocks
  • Freshman outside hitter Lara Del Core came off the bench to blast 10 kills in just two sets. She hit .562
  • Freshman setter Cansin Sendir handed out 50 assists and also contributed seven digs, two aces and two blocks
  • Avery Booker led all players with 19 kills for George Mason
THE DIFFERENCE
  • VCU hit a season-high .317 in the contest. The Rams opened with a .389 mark in the first set on the way to a wire-to-wire 25-22 win. The Black and Gold committed just two errors in the frame
  • The Rams also outblocked the Patriots 10-5 and registered a 58-56 advantage in digs
  • The teams split the first two sets. Mason stormed to a 13-9 advantage in the third, but VCU continued to chip away. Del Core smacked back-to-back kills to give the Rams an 18-17 lead they would not relinquish. She added two more kills down the stretch as VCU took control of the match with a 25-20 triumph. Del Core posted six kills in the third set on just nine attempts
  • The Rams hit .342 in the fourth on the way to a match-clinching 25-21 decision
