THE SHORT STORY: VCU remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 competition with its third consecutive shutout, fighting to a 0-0 draw with George Mason in the Rams' conference home opener.

- Carleigh Frilles and Kanna Matsuhisa paced the Rams with four shots

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Patriots logged the first two threatening attempts on goal, as Christin Grant made a blocked shot in the 16th minute and Michi Hooks drew Karpovich's lone save of the match in the 21st minute
- Firing back, Frilles tallied four consecutive shots around the 30-minute mark for VCU, inducing a pair of saves and a block by the visitors
- VCU played a dominant defensive game, not allowing another Patriots shot until the 70th minute, facing a pair of misses and one blocked shot
- In the final five minutes VCU added two more shots on goal and another just wide, attempting to break the stalemate
- With a cross coming in from Eller at the corner, Parham lifted a header just high of the crossbar, missing a promising attempt for the Rams by just inches
- Matsuhisa drove a header to the lower right corner, which was staved off by the gloves of Patriots goalkeeper Victoria Connick, and Parham ripped a hard shot off the rebound that found the far post
- With 1:30 left to play, Nguyen sent the final attempt of the match into the arms of Connick
- VCU extended its unbeaten streak to three games, advancing to 1-0-1 in Atlantic 10 play
