The short story: Junior
Everett Vaughan carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, while VCU backed him with a 13-hit attack and completed a three-game sweep of Fordham Sunday.

LEADING OFF
- Vaughan started and tossed six shutout innings for the Black and Gold – his longest outing of the season. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. He no-hit Fordham for 5.1 innings until Chris Genaro lifted a single to center in the sixth
- VCU graduate left fielder Ethan Iannuzzi went 3-for-4 with a double and scored two runs. He reached base four times on the afternoon
- Senior third baseman Brandon Eike recorded a pair of RBI singles for VCU. He has now surpassed 50 RBIs for the second straight season
- Senior shortstop William Bean also finished his day 3-for-4, and drove in a pair of runs while senior catcher Nic Ericsson was 2-for-3 and scored twice for the Black and Gold
THE STRETCH
- The Black and Gold battered Fordham pitching to the tune of 13 hits. VCU batters struck out just twice on the day
- VCU broke the game open with three runs in the third and two in the fourth. Ericsson led off the third with a single, and Bean followed with a double to center to break a scoreless tie. Two batters later, Eike deposited an RBI single into right field. VCU added one more run on an error
- In the fourth, junior second baseman Casey Kleinman delivered a two-out, two-run single to extend VCU's lead to 5-0
- With the win, VCU moved into a tie for second place in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings alongside Dayton. Both clubs are 13-7, while Saint Louis sits in first at 15-6 in league action

VCU will close out its regular season with a three-game series at Richmond May 16-18 at Pitt Field. Thursday's first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
