LEADING OFF
- Three VCU pitchers limited Fordham to seven hits. Sophomore righthander Maison Martinez (4-0) three 2.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory. Senior righty Owen Tappy pitched a flawless ninth to earn his fourth save
- Eike, who homered in Friday's win, finished 1-for-4 Saturday
- Junior second baseman Casey Kleinman singled and scored a pair of runs for the Black and Gold
- Graduate outfielder Ethan Iannuzzi provided VCU's lone extra-base hit with a fourth-inning double. He also drove in a run
THE STRETCH
- Senior shortstop William Bean led off the ninth with a walk for VCU in a 3-3 game. Freshman first baseman Chris McHugh was hit by a pitch two batters later to set the stage for Eike, who drove an 0-1 pitch up the middle to score Bean
- Martinez entered the game in the sixth and weaved his way out of a two-out jam. He and Tappy combined to hold Fordham to just one hit the rest of the day
- VCU took a 1-0 lead in the first when Iannuzzi was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Fordham scored a pair in the third, but The Black and Gold reclaimed the lead at 3-2 when Kleinman scored on a throwing error, followed by a sacrifice fly by sophomore right fielder Aden Hill
- Fordham knotted the contest at 3-3 with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth
