Kiley Kozak forced overtime on a free position goal with 13 seconds left in regulation. The Colonials won the draw control in overtime and scored on the initial possession.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU's Koeneke opened the scoring with 10:34 left in the first quarter off a Kash assist. GW responded with three quick goals in less than two minutes to take a 3-1 lead with 8:35 left in the period
- VCU scored three of the next five goals to get within 5-4 after Whitmore scored her first goal of the afternoon with 1:57 left in the first
- The Revolutionaries then pushed their lead to 8-4 with 13:26 left before halftime but VCU closed the half with four unanswered goals to tie the game at 8-8 on Whitmore's second of the day with 3:22 left before halftime
- The second half was a tightly contested affair with GW never leading by more than two goals and VCU tying the game twice, the last time at 14-14 with 13 seconds remaining as Kozak converted a free position
- The Colonials won the draw in overtime and scored 49 seconds into the first possession on a goal from Nowakowski
