- Each team scored once more before halftime and Koeneke's goal with 8:12 left gave the Rams a 3-2 lead at the half
- The Bonnies outscored VCU 7-1 in the third quarter to retake the lead at 9-4
- VCU only got as close as a five goal deficit for the remainder of the contest
