HOW IT HAPPENED
- Richmond scored the game's first goal but VCU responded with four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead with 6:20 left in the first quarter
- The Spiders responded with three goals of their own to tie the game at 4-4 with 8:50 left in the second quarter
- VCU pushed its lead to 6-4 with 4:33 left in the half after a Palmer goal on a free position. The Rams ultimately took a 6-5 lead into halftime
- Richmond retook the lead in the third quarter at 7-6 with 5:53 left in the third quarter on a goal from Colleen Quinn. VCU shut out the Spiders for the remainder of the game
- Mason Whitmore then tied the game at 7-7 with 4:36 remaining in the third quarter with Kozak putting the Rams in front with seconds left in the quarter
- The two teams battled in the fourth quarter until Kozak putting the game out of reach on a goal with 1:17 left
