RAMS DROP SERIES FINALE AT ST. BONAVENTURE 11-6

Score: St. Bonaventure 11, VCU 6
Location: St. Bonaventure, N.Y. (Handler Park)
Records: VCU 23-13 (6-3 Atlantic 10), St. Bonaventure 12-18 (3-6)

The short story: Senior third baseman Brandon Eike collected three hits, and freshman Trent Adelman drove in a pair, but it wasn't enough for VCU to withstand St. Bonaventure Sunday.

LEADING OFF
  • Eike finished 3-for-4 with a double. He drove in one and scored a run
  • Adelman, making his second start of the season, was 1-for-4 with two RBIs
  • Senior outfielder Cooper Benzin doubled twice for the Rams
  • St. Bonaventure's Morgan Little led a 14-hit Bona attack with three hits. He homered and drove in three
THE STRETCH
  • The first seven Bonnies to hit in the bottom of the second reached base as St. Bonaventure rang up five runs
  • VCU chipped away with three in a the third, including an RBI double by Eike and a two-run double by Benzin, to make it 5-3
  • St. Bonaventure pushed its lead out to 7-3 before Adelman responded with a two-run single through the left side in the fifth. But VCU could get no closer. Bona added a pair of insurance runs on a two-run homer in the eighth and eventually led by as many as six runs in the game
  • In addition to Bona's 14 hits, SBU capitalized on seven walks by VCU pitching
  • VCU left 13 runners on base
