VCU’S TUSSING NAMED USTFCCCA REGIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU's Ethan Tussing has been named Women's Indoor Track & Field Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced this week.

Tussing, in his 16th season as VCU's throwers coach, saw his student-athletes rake in 41 points at the Atlantic 10 Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 23-24 in Virginia Beach as VCU captured the league's team title.

He also helped guide junior Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir to a fourth-place finish in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 7 in Boston, Mass. In the process, Hallgrimsdottir collected a First Team All-America citation. She also claimed Second Team All-America honors in June in the hammer throw.

Hallgrimsdottir is the second VCU thrower to earn All-America honors under Tussing's tutelage and during his tenure, the Rams have broken every school throwing record.
