RICHMOND, Va. – VCU's Ethan Tussing has been named Women's Indoor Track & Field Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced this week.
 
Tussing, in his 16^th season as VCU's throwers coach, saw his student-athletes rake in 41 points at the Atlantic 10 Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 23-24 in Virginia Beach as VCU captured the league's team title.
 
He also helped guide junior Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir to a fourth-place finish in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 7 in Boston, Mass. In the process, Hallgrimsdottir collected a First Team All-America citation. She also claimed Second Team All-America honors in June in the hammer throw.
 
Hallgrimsdottir is the second VCU thrower to earn All-America honors under Tussing's tutelage and during his tenure, the Rams have broken every school throwing record.
