HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vandiver scored twice as Elon rang up five unanswered goals in the late third and early fourth quarters, to grab a 12-9 lead with 3:55 remaining. Late scores by George and Karn pulled the Rams within 12-11 in the waning moments, but VCU could get no closer
- George connected on two first-quarter goals as the Rams stormed to a 6-1 advantage. But Elon responded by pitching a 6-0 shutout in the second, backed by two goals each from Vandiver and Cierra Hopson, to charge to a 7-6 lead at the half
- A trio of goals by Karn, sophomore Jamie Lastner and senior Autumn Kash provided VCU with a short-lived 9-7 edge in the third
- Elon outshot VCU 30-22
