HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a tightly contested defensive battle. VCU struck first on a goal from Kash with 11:07 left to play in the quarter
- The Monarchs answered at the 5:35 mark on a goal from Sydney Taylor but the Rams retook the lead at 2-1 after George scored from point blank range
- ODU held VCU to one goal in the second quarter, outscoring the Rams 3-1 in the period in order to build a 4-3 lead at the half
- The Monarchs extended their lead in the third quarter after VCU tied the game at 4-4, scoring twice to hold a 6-4 advantage heading into the fourth
- The Rams fought back, getting a goal from both Kash and McDonnell to tie the game at 7-7 with 7:38 remaining
- Neither team was able to break the deadlock for over six minutes before the Monarchs' Olivia Tanneberger scored the game-winner with 1:36 remaining
