VCU RALLIES TO TAKE DOWN MARYLAND, 4-3

The Short Story: Despite dropping the doubles point and being on the cusp of defeat, VCU rallied in its last three matches to take the win over the Terrapins and remain undefeated on the year. 

OPENING SERVE

  • The Rams dueled in their most competitive doubles point so far this season, with matches on courts two and three both going to tiebreaker sets
  • Sophomore Emma Valletta bounced back after her first loss of the season yesterday to tie the contest at one apiece 
  • Following wins for Maryland on courts three and two, junior Yelizaveta Karlova began the VCU comeback with her victory in a competitive three set match. With her win, she remained undefeated on the season
  • Freshman Emma Rizzetto then tied the match at three with a strong victory on court five, keeping her undefeated on the season
  • Finally, freshman Tiziana Rossini battled in three sets to complete the comeback and clinch the match, 4-3.
