VCU WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT, IMPROVES TO 21-3

The short story: Sophomore guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey supplied 11 points, and VCU held St. Bonaventure to 26 percent shooting on the way to victory Saturday at the Siegel Center.
 
OPENING TIP
  • Lewis-Eutsey converted on 5-of-7 attempts from the floor and corralled three rebounds. She also blocked two shots
  • Sarah Te-Biasu and Mary-Anna Asare each chipped in nine points for the Rams. Te-Biasu added three steals

THE DIFFERENCE
  • VCU clamped down on Bona on defense and limited the Bonnies to 15-of-57 shooting in the game, including 8-of-29 (26 percent) from 3-point range. The Rams limited St. Bonaventure to just nine field goals and a total of 23 points in the final three quarters combined
  • The Rams forced 16 turnovers and owned a 40-24 advantage on the glass
  • VCU shot 49 percent (20-of-41) from the field and connected on 11-of-15 free throws
  • St. Bonaventure jumped out to an 11-7 lead in the first quarter on the strength of a pair of Haskell 3-pointers, but the Rams closed the period on an 11-6 run over the final 3:02, punctuated by a Torgut 3-pointer at the 1:13 mark, to take an 18-17 lead. VCU would not trail again and would lead by as many as 17 points in the contest
