The Short Story: Timaya Lewis-Eutsey scored a career-high 28 points while Grace Hutson added a career-best 17 points as the Rams overcame a slow first quarter to pull away for the win.
 
OPENING TIP:

• Along with her 28-point performance, Lewis-Eutsey recorded a career-high six assists and grabbed three rebounds
• Grace Hutson went a perfect 5-of-5 from behind the arc and 6-of-8 from the field. Her five 3-pointers were also a career-high
• Mykel Parham led the team with eight rebounds along with one block
• VCU scored 22 points of forced turnovers and 19 of fast breaks

• After being down 12-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Rams went on a 15-2 run to open the second quarter which was capped off by back-to-back Hutson threes. VCU led 27-12 after the run
• The Rams shot 63.6 percent from beyond the arc in the second quarter as they led 35-25 at the break
• The Black and Gold expanded their lead off a 9-2 run to start the final frame where Lewis-Eutsey scored five of the nine points. VCU led 
• The Rams took their largest lead of 18 points with 54 seconds left in the game

• VCU has won six of its last seven season openers dating back to 2017-18 and the Rams have won three straight
