The Short Story: Mary-Anna Asare had a career-high 20 points and VCU shot 46.9 percent from the floor to earn a dominant road win at Howard.
 
OPENING TIP:
  • Asare shot 7-of-11 from the floor and grabbed nine rebounds
  • Timaya Lewis-Eutsey added 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. She shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range
  • Mykel Parham had eight points and grabbed nine rebounds
  • VCU held Howard to just 1-of-16 shooting from 3-point range and just 29.5 percent from the field overall
  • The Rams went 8-of-17 from deep and 46.9 percent from the floor. VCU also held a 15-6 advantage in points off turnovers

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The teams were tied 6-6 with 5:33 left in the first quarter before VCU used a quick 6-0 run spanning just 1:32 of game time to take a 12-6 lead. The run was capped off by an Asare free throw
  • VCU held an 18-13 lead going into the second quarter but built its lead to 30-18 with 4:27 left before halftime after a Lewis-Eutsey 3-pointer
  • The Rams led the Bison 37-24 at the half
  • VCU went on a 7-2 run to open the third quarter to push its lead to 44-26 after a Zoli Khalil free throw
  • The Rams led by as many as 33 points in the second half and cruised to the win
