The Short Story:Â An early second quarter goal by Richmond proved to be the only difference in a battle of crosstown rivals as VCU dropped its regular season finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU controlled most of the possession in the first quarter but the score remained tied at 0-0 after the first 15 minutes
- The Spiders scored the lone goal of the afternoon in the 17th minute as Emma Williams sent in a pass from the edge of the sideline into the circle where Rich Nichols turned and shot past the VCU keeper
- The Spiders led 1-0 at the half but the Rams continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, having a 4-0 advantage in penalty corners
- VCU held a 9-0 advantage in penalty corners in the second half but were unable to tie the game
