The short story: Impressive efforts by senior Nia Warren and freshman Madelyn Anderson paced VCU Friday morning at the East Carolina's Pirate XC Invitational.

THE FINISH LINE:
  • Warren finished just outside of the top-50 in a competitive race that featured over 200 runners
  • Anderson continues to show promise for the Rams. The freshman from Stafford, Va. was the second VCU runner to the tape in 76th place
  • Junior Ava Miller nearly cracked the top-100, continuing her push to be an impactful runner for the Rams

HEAR FROM THE RAMS:
"Today may not have been our strongest race, but our consistency shows the strength of our team. We're focused on building momentum and executing well as we look ahead to the A-10 conference. Every step forward is a step toward our goals." Nia Warren

"Another solid day for the Rams. A lot of our younger athletes are figuring out what works for them as individuals and how to use that to benefit the team as a whole. It was a really good experience to get the crew out here with some great competition and continue to build confidence. We still haven't seen all that this group has to give and I think the team is just excited to keep allowing the pieces to fall into place." – Director of Cross Country Austin Savage

NEXT UP:
The Rams next travel to Elon, where they will compete in the Phoenix XC Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18. It will be the Rams' last regular season race before the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be held at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
