RICHMOND, VA - Rifanty Kahfiani has been named to the coaching staff of the VCU Women's Tennis program, Head Coach Vivian Segnini announced. Kahfiani most recently served as the interim head coach at Ball State and worked as an academy coach in her homem country of Indonesia coaching more than 20 high performance players.
"I'm excited that Rifanty will be joining us as an Assistant Coach. She has valuable experience as a tennis player and also as a coach. Rifa is very passionate about mentoring athletes and she will help them achieve their full potential," said Segnini.
As a junior professional player, she competed at Wimbledon and the Australian Open and on the Junior Fed Cup Team in 2011, 2012, and 2014. In 2019, Kahfiani represented Indonesia at the South East Asian Games. At one point, she was ranked No. 392 in the ITF singles pro ranking and No. 1078 in the ITF Doubles ranking, as well as No. 90 in the ITF Junior Rankings.
While earning her undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Sports Marketing at Oregon, Kahfiani helped the Ducks achieve their highest team ranking in program history (No. 17), and was ranked No. 56 in ITA doubles in 2019. She also spent time as a volunteer assistant coach for Notre Dame during the 2021-2022 season and helped with practices, administrative parts of the program, and also ran the team's social media page. Kahfiani is a certified coach by the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association.
She then joined the staff at Ball State while earning a Masters in Communication and Information Sciences, where she helped the team win the MAC Conference Tournament Championship, qualify for the NCAA Tournament and achieve the highest team ranking in the Ball State history No. 74. While at VCU, Kahfiani will be earning her Masters in Sport Leadership from the Center for Sport Leadership.
