VCU OUTLASTS DAVIDSON IN 2-1 OVERTIME WIN

The Short Story: VCU outshot Davidson 24-3 overall but it wasn't until overtime that Luisa Fasold scored the game-winner.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • VCU dominated possession in the game's first half, outshooting the Wildcats 4-1 through the two quarters but the teams were tied 0-0 at the break
  • The Rams broke the deadlock early in the third quarter as Macera turned near the top of the circle and fired a backhand shot past the goalie in the 33rd minute
  • The Black and Gold continued to apply pressure, outshooting the Wildcats 13-2 in the second half
  • Davidson tied the game in the 58th minute off a penalty corner, as Collins scored while VCU was playing in a man-down situation due to a green card
  • Davidson stopped a few early chances in overtime but Fasold won the game in the 69th minute, getting an end line
