The Short Story: VCU used two first quarter goals from Morena Macera to earn a shutout win at Columbia on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • VCU took the lead in the 10th minute as Fasold fed Macera after the penalty corner insert and she scored from seven yards out
  • Macera doubled VCU's lead to 2-0 less than four minutes later, hitting a backhand shot past Columbia's goalkeeper
  • The Rams kept the pressure on in the second quarter, outshooting Columbia 4-1 in the frame but still held the 2-0 lead at the half
  • The second half was more balanced as the Rams outshot the Lions 7-6 in the half. Neither team was able to score
