HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU took a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the game, earning an early penalty corner that Carr-Brown converted into a goal
- The rest of the first quarter and the second quarter was a back-and-forth match. Neither team recorded a shot in the second period and the Rams held a 1-0 lead going into halftime
- The Cardinals responded early in the third quarter on a penalty corner of their own in the 32nd minute to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was scored by Kaczmarczyk
- Louisville attempted to pressure VCU for the remainder of regulation but four saves from Messier and the Rams' defense forced overtime
