CARLEIGH FRILLES NAMED TO PHILIPPINES NATIONAL TEAM

MANILA, Philippines – Incoming transfer junior Carleigh Frilles has been named to the Philippine Women's National Team and will represent the Filipinas at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Philippine National Team, making its first appearance in a FIFA Women's World Cup, announced the 23-woman roster on July 9. Frilles was named as one of six forwards on the team.

Frilles, who played the previous two seasons at Coastal Carolina, has recorded 36 caps and scored 12 goals during her time with the national team. A native of Haymarket, Va., Frilles' connections with the Philippines can be traced back to her father's side of the family and she first played for the national team when she made the U14 team.

"I feel like every soccer player looks to the World Cup," Frilles said. "I feel like before, I could never even imagine the journey I have been on to get here. I am proud and excited to represent the Philippines at the World Cup."

The World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand, gets started on July 20 and the Filipinas will make their World Cup debut on July 21 in Dunedin, New Zealand against Switzerland. Their next match will take place against New Zealand on July 25 in Wellington, New Zealand before wrapping up Group A play against Norway on July 30 in Auckland, New Zealand.

All matches can be watched on either FOX or FS1. Head here for the Philippine Women's National Team's full release.
