FULL 2023 SCHEDULE
RICHMOND, Va. – A pair of match-ups with defending Atlantic 10 Conference Champion Loyola Chicago, as well as two contests with rival and perennial league contender Dayton highlight VCU's 2023 schedule, released Thursday.
Â
The 2023 campaign, the first under first-year Head Coach
Tim Doyle, will officially kick off on Friday, Aug. 25, when the Rams take on intrastate rival Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va.
Â
The Rams will host Iona, Georgetown and Radford in the VCU Invitational Sept. 1-3 at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, and the Black and Gold will also travel to James Madison (Sept. 8-10) and Winthrop (Sept. 15-16) for non-conference tournament action.
Â
VCU, which captured three straight Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championships from 2017-19, will open league play Sept. 22-23 at Saint Louis. A pair of anticipated matches at longtime conference foil Dayton will close the regular season Nov. 10-11.
Â
The Rams will host Duquesne (Sept. 29-30), Davidson (Oct. 3), Fordham (Oct. 7-8), defending A-10 Champion Loyola Chicago (Oct. 20-21) and George Mason (Oct. 28-29) during conference play.
Â
VCU will return eight letterwinners in 2023, including two-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection
Jasmine Knight (Phoenix, Ariz.) and 2021 A-10 All-Rookie team pick
Kialah Jefferson (Prosper, Texas). Doyle, a former Rams' assistant and one of the architects of the program's rise to the top of the A-10, was named head coach in December following five seasons in the same position at William & Mary.
