The Short Story:Â VCU women's track & field won three events at the annual ECAC Championships:
Lauryn Taylor in the 100-meter dash,
Symone Foster in the 100-meter hurdles, and the women's 4x100-meter relay team of
Jordyn Evans, Taylor, Foster, and
Kayelyn Tate as the Rams bring a significant haul of gold medals back home to Richmond.
SPRINTS
- Taylor broke the tape in the 100m in a time of 11.60. This is Taylor's third individual event win of the postseason to go along with her 100m and 200m titles at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
- Tate also made the 100m final, placing fifth overall with a time of 11.94.
- The 4x100m relay team combined to complete the lap in 45.27, edging out runner-up Towson by .01 of a second.
HURDLES
- In addition to her win in the 100mh final, Foster also set the VCU school record in the preliminary round at 13.50, lowering her own record of 13.54 set last week at A-10s.
DISTANCE
- Lauren Tunnell set a new personal record of 4:29.45 in the 1500m, placing fourth overall. Tunnell became just the third Ram ever to run under 4:30 in the 1500m, joining Maria Elena-Calle and Emily Dyke.
- Ava Miller represented the Rams in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking in at 11:25.88.
JUMPS
- Nayome Shipp placed fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.63m (5'-4.25").
- Selkis Elong finished sixth in the long jump, landing in the sand pit at 5.68m (18'-7.75").
