The Short Story: VCU had taken a 7-4 lead early in the second quarter before the Rams' offense went cold and the Colonials scored nine of the next 10 goals to take the lead and pull away for the win.

  • George Washington scored the game's first goal but the Rams responded with four unanswered to take a 4-1 lead with 3:26 left in the first quarter
  • The Colonials scored the final two goals of the quarter to cut the VCU lead to 4-3 heading into the second
  • The Rams extended their lead to 7-4 after a Juliana George goal with 10:43 left before halftime
  • The Colonials then scored the next eight goals and 12 of the next 14 to take a 16-9 lead with 11:20 left in the fourth quarter
  • VCU scored four of the game's final five goals to cut the deficit to the final 17-13 margin
