- VCU got off to a quick start, taking a 4-0 lead after a Juliana George goal with 5:16 left in the first quarter
- The Patriots scored four of the next five goals to answer and trim the VCU lead to 5-4 with 10:23 left before halftime
- Juliana George answered with her second goal of the day, the first of five unanswered VCU goals, to build the Rams' lead to 10-4 at the half
- The Rams took control of the game from that point on as George Mason got no closer than a four-goal deficit the entire second half
