HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Rams took a quick 5-2 lead in the first quarter on Morgan Reed's goal with 1:56 left in the period
- Saint Joseph's responded by scoring six of the next seven goals to take a 7-5 lead with 7:52 remaining before halftime
- VCU answered with three of the next four goals, capped off by Slack's goal with 1:39 left before the half. The Rams took an 8-7 lead into the break
- Saint Joseph's come out of halftime, scoring three of the first four goals in the third quarter to retake the lead at 11:18 in the third quarter
- McDonnell scored a man-up goal, the first of five unanswered for VCU, to give the Rams the lead at 14-10 with 12:05 left in the fourth quarter
- The Rams only allowed two Saint Joseph's goals in the final 26:17 of the contest, outscoring the Hawks 8-2 in that time and pulling away for the win
