The Short Story: Juliana George and Kelsey McDonnell combined for nine goals as VCU took control of the game early in the second quarter and cruised to the win over La Salle.
 
QUICK FACTS:
  • Juliana George had a game-high five goals and added two assists on the day for seven total points, a season-high
  • Kelsey McDonnell scored four goals on just five shot attempts, all of which were on goal. McDonnell also had three caused turnovers and three ground balls
  • Mia George added three goals, scoring on all three of her shot attempts
  • Kiley Kozak and Morgan Reed each scored once. Riley O'Malley recorded two assists while Meghan McLaughlin added one

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • La Salle took a 2-1 lead with 2:57 left in the first quarter before VCU took control of the game scoring seven unanswered goals over the next eight minutes of game play. Juliana George's free position goal with 9:16 left in the second quarter gave VCU an 8-2 lead
  • The Rams allowed the Explorers to score twice to cut their lead to 8-4 but responded with four more goals before halftime, taking a 12-4 lead into the break after McDonnell scored with seven seconds left
  • VCU's defense held the Explorers to just one goal in the second half, coming with 1:02 left in the third quarter
  • The Rams controlled the pace of the game during the third and fourth quarters, outscoring La Salle 4-1 in the second half to put the game away
