HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- VCU took an early 4-1 lead with 8:01 left in the quarter after a Keowa Walters jumper. Saint Joseph's responded to the Rams' early lead with a 15-5 run and held a 19-8 lead after the first quarter
- The Hawks pulled away further using another 15-2 run, totaling a 30-9 advantage spanning the quarters, to lead 31-11 with 5:52 left before halftime
- VCU got a personal 8-2 run from Lewis-Eutsey to get back within 33-19 on a layup with 2:59 remaining in the quarter. Saint Joseph's led VCU 38-19 at the break
- Saint Joseph's opened the third quarter on a 25-6 run across the half and stretching into the fourth quarter to push its lead to 58-25, its largest of the game, with 8:47 left in the game
- VCU used a 14-2 run to get back within 60-39 and outscored the Hawks 21-12 overall to make the final deficit 67-45
