Juliana George just over two minutes into the overtime period to settle a back-and-forth defensive affair.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elon scored the game's opening goal before VCU answered with three unanswered goals including two from George to give the Rams a 3-1 lead
- The Phoenix added a goal before the end of the first to cut the deficit to 3-2 heading into the second
- In the second quarter, the Rams pushed their lead to 5-2 with 9:10 left before halftime after a goal from McDonell
- Elon scored two goals in the final 3:05 of the first half to trim VCU's advantage to 5-4 at the break
- The Rams struggled to breakdown Elon's defense in the third quarter as Elon reeled off three goals to retake the lead at 7-5 with 6:12 left in the period
- VCU scored the next two goals, getting one each from George and McDonnell, to tie the game 7-7 with 10:42 left in the fourth
- Elon went up 8-7 with 8:59 left and it took the Rams until the 3:02 mark to tie the game at 8-8 on a goal from Reed on a feed from Mia George
- The teams went to overtime and less than two minutes into it, Juliana George won her one-on-one matchup, turned and fired a shot low towards the back post for the goal
