The Short Story: VCU used a 16-4 second quarter run to take a double-digit lead over Hofstra and never looked back to win their season opener in front of the home crowd on Tuesday night

OPENING TIP:
- The win was VCU's largest margin of victory in a season opener since 2016 when the Rams beat Coppin State 73-44
- Mary-Anna Asare scored a team-high 14 points, going 3-4 from beyond the arc and grabbing four boards
- TiMaya Lewis-Eutsey and Sarah Te-Biasu were also in double figures for the Rams with 13 points and 12 points, respectively. Lewis-Eutsey had a team-high nine reboudns
- Overall, VCU held a 42-23 advantage in rebounds over the Pride

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams were tied at 13-13 with 1:53 left in the first before VCU used a 5-0 run to lead 18-13
- With VCU leading 21-18 with 6:30 left in the second quarter, the Rams got a layup from Jennifer Ezeh to start a 16-4 run and took a 15-point lead into halftime at 37-22
- Hofstra went on a 9-5 run to trim VCU's lead to 45-34 with 1:38 left in the third but that would be as close as the Pride would get
- The Rams were able to push the lead back to 51-34 after a 6-0 run capped by a Sarah Te-Biasu turnaround jumper at the quarter buzzer
- In the fourth quarter, VCU led by as many as 30 points as the Rams cruised to the win
