OPENING VOLLEY
- Knight hit .286 on 14 tries for the Black and Gold
- Junior outside hitter Kialah Jefferson registered a team-high nine kills for VCU
- Junior opposite Parker Hartzell kicked in eight kills and a block for the Rams, while freshman libero Anja Kujundzic provided 15 digs and an ace from the back row
- Lexie Almodovar led the Flyers with a match-high 18 kills
THE DIFFERENCE
- Dayton hit .236, compared to VCU's .119 mark
- The Flyers also owned an 11-6 advantage in blocks
- The Rams were able to hit above .200 in just the second set
- VCU threatened in the second when it streaked to a 17-10 lead, a run punctuated by a kill from junior middle blocker Kylie Loftis. But Dayton finished the frame on a 15-3 blitz that included five kills from Almodovar
- The Rams looked to force a fourth set and took a 22-19 advantage, but Almodovar sparked a 7-2 Flyer burst with three kills to close the matchÂ
