THE SHORT STORY: Despite recording twice as many shots and forcing eight saves, VCU Women's Soccer dropped a tough match to Dayton following a second half goal in Sunday afternoon's Atlantic 10 matchup.

PITCH SIDE
- The Rams finished with 12 shots, and had eight on goal
- VCU held Dayton to just six total shots, and four on goal
- In corners, VCU out earned Dayton four to two
- Bulatovic, Maughan and Kendyl Sarver each had three shots with two on goal to lead the Rams
- Alison Karpovich had three saves for the Rams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rams set the tone early, when Sarver tested the Dayton keeper in the fifth minute
- VCU controlled possession for a lot of the first half, but were unable to get a shot off again until the 28th minute from Munyak
- VCU did not allow a shot on goal in the first half, as the match went into halftime scoreless
- The second half began much like the first, with VCU testing the Dayton keeper early with shots from Bulatovic and Sarver
- Kanna Matsuhisa and Sarver each took a shot in the 56th and 58th minutes
- Maughan (60th and 64th) took a pair of shots in the 60th and 64th minutes with one on goal that was saved
- Dayton scored their lone goal in the 70th minute
- VCU did not stop looking for what was now a tying goal, getting a shot on goal from Maughan shortly after, and a shot from Bulatovic that was saved
- When the final whistle blew, Dayton's second half goal was the difference in their 1-0 win
UP NEXT: The Rams hit the road for an A-10 conference match against St. Bonaventure next Sunday before returning to Sports Backers Stadium on October 19th against Fordham.
