RAMS SIGN MARIAM IBRAHIM

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Tennis signed Mariam Ibrahim to a national letter of intent, head coach Vivian Segnini announced today.

The Cairo, Egypt native is currently ranked no. 4 in Egypt U18 rankings and no. 214 in the ITF juniors singles and doubles rankings.

"I really enjoyed getting to know Mariam during the recruiting process," Segnini said. "She works hard in everything she does and is a great person. I'm sure that she will be a great teammate and represent VCU in a positive fashion at all times. She has a lot of experience competing internationally and is very competitive and driven to grow. Mariam is a great addition to our program and I'm looking forward to having her here at VCU and helping her in her development."

Ibrahim has won two ITF junior singles titles and seven doubles titles. Ibrahim represented Egypt in the ITF Junior World Cup and she was top five in Africa U14. She also represented Egypt in the Billie Jean King Cup U16.

"I chose VCU because it will provide me the perfect balance for me to succeed academically and athletically," Ibrahim said."I'm very excited to get to Richmond and get the job done!"
