The short story: VCU dominated both ends of the pitch and outshot Massachusetts 21-4 but ultimated tied the Minutewomen 1-1.

  • Freshman midfielder Kendyl Sarver scored in the first minute and now has a team-high four goals on the season
  • Sophomore forward Kanna Matsuhisa was credited with her third assist of the season on Sarver's goal
  • VCU placed nine shots on goal compared to Massachusetts' two

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the first minute of the match, Matsuhisa put a shot on target that bounced off of the Massachusetts keeper. Sarver found the rebound and fired a shot home to put the Rams' up 1-0 early
  • The Minutewomen were quick to respond following a corner kick in the eighth minute when Lauren Bonavita found the bottom left corner of the net to tie the match at 1-1
  • The Rams tried to go out in front as the first half winded down in the 44th minute when redshirt junior midfielder Anna Bagley took advantage of an opening but Massachusetts's Mendoza leaped out to make the save on her shot attempt
  • VCU had one final chance in the 86th minute when junior midfielder Aisha Maughan spun around her defender and forced the keeper to make a fingertip save
