The Short Story: The Rams scored less than three minutes into the contest for the second straight game and held off Columbia late for the win.

  • Litiana Field scored once and had a team-high three shot attempts
  • Jaimie McCormick scored her first goal in a VCU uniform
  • Skyler Padgett also scored a goal, her second in as many games
  • VCU outshot Columbia 8-3 in shots on goal and 15-9 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • VCU scored just 2:35 into the game when McCormick followed up a blocked shot off a penalty corner and beat the goalkeeper at the back post
  • The Rams took a 2-0 lead just before halftime in the 27th minute when Litiana Field followed her initial penalty corner shot attempt, beat a couple of Lions defenders and scored from point blank range 
  • VCU went up 3-0 in the 52nd minute as Skyler Padgett scored from the wing on a hard hit shot to the back post 
  • Columbia got a goal back late in the 59th minute from Rockefeller but were unable to threaten the Rams' lead any further
