- The first quarter saw only two shot attempts on goal, both by the Tribe, that were saved by Messier
- Lonica McKinney had the Rams' first chance of the game in the 21st minute but her effort was saved by The Tribe's Maddie George
- The Rams then had back-to-back shots by Bridget McCormick and Jaimie McCormick in the 22nd minute but Jaimie's attempt was blocked and Bridget's went wide
- With the score til tied 0-0, each team had just one shot on goal in the third quarter with both attempts saved
- The Rams had a chance to win the game in regulation following a penalty corner in the 56th minute but Janne Wetzel's shot attempt was block and Carr-Brown's follow-up attempt went wide
- William & Mary scored 1:26 into the overtime period on a breakaway to win the contest
