DIAZ-DELGADO’S HISTORIC POSTSEASON RUN ENDS IN NCAA SEMIFINALS

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The run may be over, but Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado's place in VCU Tennis history is secure.

Diaz-Delgado, a two-time ITA All-American, fell to defending National Champion Peyton Stearns of Texas Friday in the NCAA Singles Semifinals, 6-3, 6-4 at the Khan Tennis Complex. Friday's loss ends a historic run to cap Diaz-Delgado's indelible VCU career. She is the first VCU Women's Tennis player ever to advance to the NCAA singles semifinals.

The Almeria, Spain native wraps up her VCU career with 118 singles victories, second-most in school history. She is the fourth player in program history to earn two ITA All-America citations and the first since 2005.

This week's single run was the second of her storied career. Diaz-Delgado advanced to the singles round of 16 in 2019.
