Paola Diaz-Delgado readies to serve in her 2022 NCAA Quarterfinals Match

DIAZ-DELGADO MAKES HISTORY, ADVANCES TO NCAA SEMIFINALS

RICHMOND, Va. – Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado became the first VCU Women's Tennis student-athlete to reach the NCAA Semifinals as she defeated No. 36 Michaela Bayerlova of Washington State in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
 
Diaz-Delgado raced out to a 6-1 lead in the first set, forcing numerous errors from Bayerlova who struggled to keep the ball in play as she cruised to the early lead.

The second set was a back-and-forth affair with Diaz-Delgado and Beyerlova trading the lead multiple times before a tiebreaker was forced. Diaz-Delgado trailed the tiebreaker 6-4 before storming back and winning it 10-8 to take the set and the match.
 
Diaz-Delgado is set to face No. 2 Peyton Stearns at 1:30 p.m. EST Friday, May 27 with a spot in the national championship on the line.
