RICHMOND, VA - Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado defeated No. 44 ranked Virginia junior Natasha Subhas in the round of 16 of the NCAA Singles Championships Wednesday morning at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois
 
Subhash controlled the court early claiming a 6-3 first set victory. Diaz-Delgado would flip the script, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage before taking the set 6-3 in convincing fashion. Diaz-Delgado continued to command the action, forcing mistakes and claiming a 2-1 lead in the final set. Subhash would win two more games but Diaz-Delgado remained consistent and clinched a Quarterfinal berth with a 6-3 third set victory
 
With this win Diaz-Delgado becomes the first Ram to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinal since 2006. Diaz-Delgado will face the winner of Michaela Bayerlova (Wash St.) vs. Carson Tanguilig (UNC) tomorrow, May 26.
