DIAZ-DELGADO AND SEGNINI TOP LIST OF CONFERENCE HONOREES

RICHMOND, Va. ­– VCU Women's Tennis Head Coach Vivian Segnini was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, while Graduate Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado earned Most Outstanding Performer in the conference awards announced by the Atlantic 10 office on Tuesday.
 
Segnini earns Coach of the Year honors for the second-consecutive season after leading VCU to its fourth straight conference title and an 18-7 record.
 
Diaz-Delgado adds to her already staggering collegiate career earning the top conference honor for a third time. The Almeria, Spain native has tallied an overall 25-9 singles record and a 16-6 doubles mark. Diaz-Delgado earned her third-consecutive NCAA Singles Tournament bid and has advanced to the Round of 16 following two wins over opponents ranked in the ITA National Singles Top 60. By advancing to the top 16, Diaz-Delgado has automatically earned her second ITA All-American honor and her first since 2019.
 
In addition to taking the conference's top performer honor, Diaz-Delgado was selected to the A-10 First Team and earned All-Academic recognition for the second time in her career.
 
Graduate student Nina Sorkin and freshman Yelizaveta Karlova joined Diaz-Delgado on the first team while junior Gabriella Davidescu and freshman Laura Garcia Astudillo earned second-team honors.
 
Sorkin's first-team selection caps off an impressive final season for the Glen Allen, Va. Native. The Virginia Tech transfer collected a team best 25 singles wins and was named Atlantic 10 Performer of the week on April 12. Sorkin also had a stellar doubles campaign earning a 12-7 record in dual match play with partner Yelizaveta Karlova.
 
Karlova garners a place on the conference's top team after a consistent freshman season which saw the Almaty, Kazakhstan native tally 12 singles wins over the dual match season. The freshman played the majority of the season from the no. 2 position taking 11 victories from court two.
 
Davidescu earns second-team honors for the second straight season after finishing the year with a 16-14 singles record and a 21-15 doubles mark. The sophomore earned Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors on February 22.
 
Garcia lands on the second team following a strong freshman campaign. The Barcelona, Spain native logged a 13-2 doubles record with partner Diaz-Delgado and reached a season high ranking of No.48 on the ITA National Doubles poll.
