- After two straight UVA goals, George cut the deficit to 3-2 with 4:12 left in the quarter with a shot that got past the goalkeeper and went in just under the crossbar
- Slack scored with 13:24 left in the second quarter to cut the VCU deficit to 6-3 but the Cavaliers shut down the Rams and scored 11 unanswered goals spanning across halftime
- VCU was unable to overcome the deficit as UVA outscored the Rams 11-2 in the second half
